You can blame my friend Katy for this one. We were over at her house a few weeks ago, making delicious beet burgers and curry fries, and I asked her for a paper towel to blot the potatoes. She said "Oh, we're paper-free, can you just use a cloth napkin?"
And bam! I wanted my own cloth napkins. And you know what's perfect for making cloth napkins? Novelty fabric.
When I dug through my fabric stash, these two prints were obviously the winners. My kitchen loves cowboys, so I knew they would fit in just fine.
On the reverse side, I pieced together a plain blue and ditzy floral, and my napkins were done!
Great idea! I have some fabric that needs to be used up too. I was thinking of tea-towels but it's not quite thick enough. Boom - napkins it is!
ReplyDeleteFast 'n' dirty! I mean... clean? For your hands?
DeleteI've been thinking about cutting up sheets to use as un-paper towels but I keep forgetting to make napkins. Gonna do that this weekend. Time to bust some stash!!
ReplyDeleteLove the retro cowboys theme. I had similar fabric for cozies & they always sold quickly. :)
Oh, great idea about the sheets!
DeleteI actually really like the combo of the floral & blue! Pretty!
ReplyDeleteYay you! It seems like a pain at first, but it's so easy and you are saving so much waste by getting rid of paper napkins and paper towels. They are SO cute!
