Random Bits from the Last Few Weeks

IMG_3030

1. Have I introduced you to my new nephew, Brennan? He's adorable.

Crazy Paint! Getting Ready to Jump

2. I hung out with a friend and filmed a music video for the band, Animal City. I got painted real pretty, and at the end we all jumped into an (incredibly dirty) pool. It was equal parts fun and disgusting.

Bunnies in Love

3. I got a request for more pictures of my bunnies (ahem, I'm lookin' at you, Julie!) - this is Lady Grey and Sir Thomas More, and they are totally in love, and snuggle constantly!

Thank you Card

4. My Mom painted me this thank you card, and I loved it so much, I framed it. Thanks, thrift store frame!

Tiny Pup

5. A friend adopted this tiny dog named Dharma, and she fits in a hat.

spam email

6. I'm really amused by these spam emails. If I was single, I'd totally say I was "certainly having a look for boyfriend." Anyone else fascinated by spam?

7. Facetime with my sister, and my other sister (Kate, my sister's oldest friend).

Ps. I'm sure you know that Google Reader is on it's way out, so be sure to transfer over your blog roll before July 1st. BlogLovin' is a great way to keep up with blogs (follow me by clicking here). I use The Old Reader, because I still miss the old Google Reader!

long time, no...

Hello my bloggy friends. It is I, Sir Thomas More. The rabbit. Not the historical figure.

bunnyyyy

Katie has had a crazy week, so I offered to update her blog, since I am so good at typing with my nimble paws. After planning and prepping for her friends' wedding last week, she sent me to the bunny hotel, where I ate hay and stared at other bunnies. It's been awhile since I've had quality time with other buns, and I really loved it. When they took me home on Monday, I got so upset that I took a bite out of every piece of furniture I could. Take THAT, humans!

Then Katie was sick for a few days, but now we are both feeling much better and have resumed our daily snuggling. And by "snuggling," I mean I let her pet and groom me. I do not groom her, because I am top bunny around here, and it would be beneath me. Can't you tell I'm distinguished? Helloooo - I have a salt & pepper coat. If that's not distinguished, I don't know what is.

Katie will be back tomorrow with lots of crafty projects to show you!

Fondest Regards,
Sir Thomas More

I got an iphone!

I got a new iphone! I was using the tiniest, oldest flip phone for the longest time, and I finally decided to upgrade to the fancy iphone 4. Although there are many cool features, I love the camera most of all!

I've been playing with camera apps. Any recommendations?

knittin' like the wind

... if the wind could knit, this is what it would look like:

101_4770

Due to terrible weather and work-related stress, all I have wanted to do lately is knit (and watch Battlestar Galactica). I knit my way through the body of my Beatnik in a fury and I'm all caught up with my knit-along! I just cast on my sleeves and everything.

I was pretty excited to try it on. No matter how careful I am with my gauge and calculations, I am always afraid that my sweaters will be too small. This one looks pretty good, though, and it's a lot longer than I thought it was going to be, since it's advertised as "cropped." If anything, it's bigger than planned, and I think I'm going to make the sleeves a size smaller, since I have tiny toothpick arms.

Of course, I walk away from my knitting chair for 5 minutes, and this is what I come back to. Bunnies love knitting, too!

stash busting - a winter hat of strange color

Oh, don't mind me.

I'm just rolling around on the floor, trying to find good light in my house. Really - it is bad news to live on the first floor.

But on to the hat!

About two weeks ago I looked through my knitting magazine collection, which is not much to brag about - 12 magazines total. And I pulled out patterns that I actually thought I would knit, then I further narrowed it down into patterns that I had yarn for in my stash. This won - "#07 Trapper Hat" from Vogue Knitting Winter 2005/2006.

And guess what? I didn't actually have the yarn for it.

Once I had completed the back flap in that yellow color, I realized there was no way I was going to get through the entire hat with it, so I pulled out some orange yarn. The orange yarn - ahem - was not enough. Luckily this thing is knit on size 13 needles - I ripped it and used white. Even then, I took out an entire repeat of the cable pattern and started decreasing about 10 rows early.

Folks - using up yarn is hard

Of course, the minute I lay on the floor, Sir Thomas More has to come over and check things out. Good thing he's so cute.

Tuesday - Shoesday

This weekend I got a chance to do some thrifting with my former roomie, Melissa. This was after a lovely meal at Olive Garden. I know, you probably think that Olive Garden is less than extraordinary. But let me tell you this - when there are no Olive Gardens within Chicago city limits, you get excited to drive to Lincolnwood and have all-you-can-eat salad and breadsticks.

On with the shoes!
Sir Thomas More (the bunny) loves shoes!

I snapped up the leather pair right away. They still had the tag on! But I almost walked by the blue pair - it was Melissa who pointed them out. Vintage blue suede heeled oxfords?! Yes please!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, Mum!
Here's me with my baby:
Ok, I know, a rabbit is not a baby. He sleeps way more and sheds way more. But soooomeeeday!

my coffee table

I wanted to share some fun "coffee table books" with y'all:
On my last trip home to Michigan, my Mum was giving away a ton of old books, including these two "Harry" books. I just looked it up on Amazon, and the first one was published in 1956. I took one look and knew I must have them - they match my living room!
The other little book is a photo album for my Fuji Instax camera. I found it via Holly at her blog {create*loves} and it's from the Etsy shop Sassy Talk Cafe. I am planning on filling it up with any Instax photos that don't immediately get used for projects or get hung up. It's such a shame to have them sitting in a drawer!
And last but not least: a bunny.

a new friend!

On Wednesday, Chris and I adopted a new buddy...
His name is Sir Thomas More, aka Tommy. We adopted him from the Red Door Animal Shelter, which is one of the few animal shelters in Chicago that has rabbits. He is about a year old, and loves to hide behind the couch.
I think he thinks it's his burrow. Look at that little tail! It is my favorite part of him. His coat is black with a sprinkling of white hairs. I think it makes him look distinguished, just like his namesake. He is a bit skittish at this point, especially during the day. I think the light makes him nervous. But at night, he hops around the house with free reign.
Ok, literally AS I was typing this post, he suddenly had a fit of energy and I was able to get a few better pictures of him. We also snuggled.
Look at those little white-tipped paws!
blurry, but cute.

aaanndd... I already have plans for a photo shoot involving an easter basket.

Ok, I swear the next post will involve a completed craft. I promise!
