January - Drawing to a Close

I've been a bit under the weather for the last week and busy wrapping up all my January projects. At some point mid-month, I was approached with 3 or 4 offers for new jobs or projects, and I took them all on.

Lesson learned: you do not have to say yes to everything.

I did, however, finish up a ton of felt brooches and list them in the shop:

Owl Brooches

Mustache Brooches

Folk Felt Heart Brooches

I've been working a lot on my photography, and I feel like I've definitely improved in the last 6 months, but I would love some input. Are you drawn to a clean, white background when shooting photos of your work? Or do you prefer to experiment with colors and textures?

  1. I've found that for small things like your felt work, a plain white background works the best. It's easier to get the camera to focus and it shows off the work better. I also like high contrast photos and white backgrounds make it easier to adjust the colors on Photoshop.

  2. I agree with Andi! Your work is so colorful as it is, it might be harder to grab attention with it if you have a color background, too.

I'm trying to get better at taking pictures, too! The way to do it is just take lots of pictures, right? I've been thinking about looking for a class. Blogger photography? That has to be out there! And I think your pics look great :)

  3. Thanks for the feedback, ladies! I think sticking with the white background is good for now. There is always room for experimentation later!
